How do you change the fuel filter on a 2006 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer?

when you get the filter ask for the tool to change it with if you do not get it good luck the boxs the tool come in tell you how it works it take about 10mi.

I just changed my fuel filter on my car (5.4 litter, 4 wheel drive), took me 30 minutes;

1_ Purchase the fuel filter ( mine FF686)

2_Purchase Disconnect Tool ( NAPA Quick Disconnect 730-4908) , which work on 1/4",5/16" and 3/8" fittings. Mine is 5/16". The tool is a plastic ring which goes aroung fuel filter line and pushed in very easy inside the spring loaded retainers at both side of the fuel filter to disconnect fuel filter from the retainers. I paid $4.00 for it.

3_ Park the car on a ramp to give you more room under the car to work.

4_Locate the Fuel filter which is almost under the driver seat, you have to remove the housing plate which hold the fuel filter firm by two bolts.

5_Turn on the car, while the engine is running remove fuel pump fuse #12 (15 amp), the engine runs for about 3 to 5 seconds and then stops. with this action you depressurise the fuel line.

6_ Turn the car key back to stop position.

7_The line retainer inlet retainer has a blue safety clip, with a long nose pliter pull up the center piece. Just the center piece is pushed out with the plier.

8_Put the disconnect tool around the fuel filter inlet side ( where the blue clip is located) so that the tool narrow side points to retainer. Put a pan under the fuel filter and slowly push in the the disconnect too inside the retainer. when it is all the way in, pull the the disconnect tool and the retainer away from one another. It should come out very easy, not too much pull. some dirty gas from the fuel filter will drip down.

9_ Do the same thing on the outlet side of the fuel filter. The outlet side does not have the safety clip.

10- The new filter very easyly snaps in to place. Just make sure to follow dirction of the fuel flow. other words inlet to inlet and outlet to outlet.

11- close the the holding plate and insert back the fuse.

12- turn key and let the fuel to fill the filter first before starting the engine.

13-check for any drips.
