How do you change the headlight bulb on a 2004 Saab 9-3?
Answer:
Take your Saab down the the nearest car dealership, trade it in and don't worry. If you light bulb is the only electrical issue you're having, consider yourself lucky. I've never owned a car that is so bad. I'm out $3500 on the steering colume issue, code issues within the CIM and just owning a GM POS. I'm looking to do a class action lawsuit agaist the firm but since the government now owns 50% of Saab well I guess I would be suing myself.
This is how i did it. I have the 9-3 with factory HIDS. First you remove the front bumper, unscrew the headlights and take off the headlights. that's all.
That was a nicely worded and rude answer. They are trying to get help.
Step 1 Remove the grille
Step 2 Remove the turn signal by removing the screw for the indicator
Step 3 Remove the 3 headlight screws, 2 on top one on the side
Step 4 Remove the plug from the headlamp (you may have to remove the headlamp slightly to get at the connector)
Step 5 Reinstall in reverse order.
Step 1 Remove the bulb cover on the back of the headlamp
Step 2 Remove the connector for the halogen bulb
Step 3 Remove the plug for the position lamp
Step 4 Remove the bracket that holds in the bulb in and replace the bulb

Step 1 - Remove the battery cover (2 plastic screws)
Step 2 - Remove the air intake duct (pull it out)
Step 3 - Remove the washer bottle filler tube (pull it up)
Step 4 - Remove the rubber bulb cover on the back of the headlamp (pull it off)
Step 5 - Remove the connector for the halogen bulb (twist it CCW and pull out)
Step 6 - Note orientation of bulb and pull it out of the connector
Step 7 - Put on a pair of rubber gloves (you need these to handle the new bulb)
Step 8 - Remove new bulb from box and (noting orientation) push it into connector
Step 9 - Reverse steps above to replace components
I am VERY non-technical and (due to current economic climate) wanted to save $100 or so of labor fees to replace a bulb. It took a dumb-*** like me approx 30 mins "hood-up to hood-down".
