The Kia Sportage has Two ignition coils, they sit on the top side of the engine On the spark plugs, each coil serves two plugs.
The plugs are located on the top of the head and to get to them you need to remove the air intake to the throttle body, There is a black cover plate about 4 inches wide held down by I believe 6 bolts, remove the cover and there you will find the coils.Each coil is helld in place by 2 bolts.
