I just completed this task. I would suggest not removing the upper intake unless you just can't get around it. It is not hard, just time consuming. You will have to move most of your accesories out of the way (alternator and A/C, remove the upper fan shroud and the Power Steering pulley along with the A/C mounting bracket) If you are having the common intake coolant leak problem, I suggest you also spring for a new set of intake bolts. Be careful how tight you torque evrything, remember its aluminum.
Also try and disconnect the fuel lines at the back of the engine, I did not do this and now I have to try and replace the fuel line o-rings.
After disassembly make sure evrything is super clean, if you scrape the intake be careful not to scratch or gouge it.
When you go back together you will need to be very careful of how you position the intake, the front and rear seals are RTV Black and you must clear some obstacles near the rear of the engine so you can place the intake square and straight down on the block.
jaguar 2001 Lower Engine Intake Manifold Gasket
Assuming this is a 4.3L engine, the upper intake manifold gasket would be between the upper intake manifold and the lower intake manifold.
Remove the 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass intake manifold retaining bolts. The manifold will come off. Remove the old gasket. Clean the surface. Put the new intake gasket and tighten the intake manifold retaining bolts.
The Villager has an upper and lower intake manifold. It is at the top of the engine with the throttle body attached to it.
there is no lower intake gasket, only a front and rear gasket
a bad head gasket will result with compression and oil/coolant mixxing in the blocka badupper or lower intake gasket will result with coolant in crankcase or exaust manifold which causes white smoke comming out of the tail pipe...if your gonna change the upper or lower intake gaskets change them both at the same time... it saves you money in the long run
under the lower intake manifold
Lower intake manifold bolt 115 in/lb. Upper intake manifold bolt 18 ft/.
If you plan to remove the lower intake manifold, you probably have to remove pwr steering pump indeed. Otherwise it makes a difficult removal/installation.
Stand on the pasanger side of the car with the hood open, the intake manifold in now in front of you. The intake manifold is in two peices; upper and lower, the idle air control in attached to the lower. Look at the left of the lower intake manifold, between the firewall and the intake, its barely visible but you should see some electrical clips, two of the four bolts holding the IAC on, and the IAC itself.
A bad intake manifold or manifold gasket can cause water to leak into the oil. Some newer cars have plastic manifolds and they will crack from age.
by the lower intake manifold while you are doing this you should replace the intake manifold gasket anyway because it will leak sooner or later.
