It is as simple as changing the battery cables.
The Jeep uses a top post battery and the Olds uses a side post battery. They do not interchange.
Change the positive post? You can change the battery with a new one but you cannot just change the post. If you mean reverse the positions of the positive and negative posts then buy a longer battery cable.
Rotate the battery 180 degrees.
You have an open connection from the large alternator output post to the starter main battery post or fuses blown or circuits open feeding the alternator control wiring.
You can buy and adaptor to connect the top post cables to a side post battery. Or you can simply replace the side post cables with top post cables.
Buy a new battery to start off with then you will have to either change the battery cables to sidepost type mounts or buy sidepost type mounts and install them on your old cables.
A regular 12 volt battery of any brand will do, but the battery should have at least 600 Cold Cranking Amps (CCA's) at a minimum as this is applicable to the engine of the heavier vehicle and engine. Any auto store will be able to tell you if it is top post or side post battery. Mike in Dallas, TX
make sure the key is in the off position, remove battery post don't let the red on touch anything this is a hot wire. Remove the battery, ( if you have a post holding the battery inplace lossen bolts move handle and remove battery, replace battery the same way. DON'T LET THE RED POST HIT ANYTHING THIS IS A HOT POST YOU WILL BLOW SOMETHING UP.
Remove one battery post. Find the starter and remove the wire connectors - after marking where they are to be reinstalled on the new starter. Remove bolts from starter and install new sarter in the same position Reconnect the electrical connections.
No. If the battery post if missing then you will have to buy a new battery. My question to you is how is a battery post missing?
It is a bit of a pain. you remove the washer fluid tank and a metal cross bar with two bolts. The battery is hidden under the washer fluid tank. It will be the side post model.
