Same car I have. VW recommends you NEVER change the tranny fluid. Most mechanics disagree, if you are going to keep the car beyond 100k, you should change the oil every 60k or less. I don't know the details, but you must use the tranny fluid recommended by VW. No other. You have to drop the tranny pan and let all the oil drain out. Replace the filter. Replace the pan. Add fluid. Do NOT use the "flush" method promoted by many shops. It can damage the tranny. Oil changes are straightforward. Use only the oil specified by VW. If you have the 1.8L turbo, use only full synthetic oil as recommended by VW.
you have to bleed or drain the fluid
there is no rear wiper fluid reservoir
I have a 2000 passat 2.8 v6 wagon, and have owned a 1999 passat 2.8 v6 sedan. I have been told by VW service departments that the AUTO trans units are SEALED so you cannot add fluid! Not sure about manual trans.
Change the fluid and filter every 36,000 miles.
I have a 1951 flathead fordomatic automatic station wagon. Where do I fill the transmission fluid?
The tank that supplies fluid for the windshield also supplies fluid for the rear wiper. It is located in the engine compartment.
You add transmission fluid at the same place you check it.
What is the transmission fluid capacity on a 2001 subaru forester?
Usually it is the pan gasket that is leaking. Get a new gasket and change the fluid at the same time.
Volkswagen does not make a diesel version of the Passat wagon for sale in the United States. They have made a Volkswagen Passat BlueMotion Diesel that is or soon will be available in Europe only, however that is not a wagon.
I've yet to change mine, but I hear that you specifically need to get Hyundai brand tranny fluid. Don't use generic.
You can always take it somewhere and have them change them for you, places such as cartronics.
