Hi: check this out, it may help you (have some pics too...) http://www.reluctantmechanic.com/step-by-step/change_gearbox_oil.php
Check transmission fluid level Perhaps change transmission fluid and filter
See this excellent page........ http://www.taligentx.com/passat/maintenance/atfchange/ Didn't VW make it difficult?
Check outwww.blauparts.com/vw/vw_fluid/vw_automatic_transmission_fluid.shtml
yes
I believe this car has a sealed transmission and so the fluid cannot be changed.
if it's a standard shift it takes 85w90 gear oil, i don't remember when vw started using automatics, if it is automatic it takes dexron transmission fluid. Youcan't get type a anymore, dexron will work just fine.
how do you check the transmission fluid in a jetta 2003
OEM fluid is Pentosin Vw Automatic Transmission Fluid ATF1 and that is what I recommend you use.
To change the transmission fluid on a 2002 VW Passat, you would have to take it to a dealer and have them do it, since they need a special tool, an electronic tester, to check the fluid level. The fluid cannot be too hot or too cool to get an accurate measurement since fluid expands when warmed. Ther is no ATF dipstick. The fluid level is measured electronically.
It doesn't have one. VW says the transmission fluid is for the "life of the transmission." Scary.
It's on the passenger side of the transmission.
If its a tiptronic, its "permanent." If you have transmission problems, best take it to a VW/Audi tech.
