It's pretty easy, it's just like charging a normal iPod, or iPhone. hook it up to your laptop, or PC with a USB cable (you would get that in the box) and your done. all you have to do is wait. Connecting it to a PC via USB does not charge iPad, connecting it to a Mac via USB charges it slowly but the quickest way to charge it is to plug it into a wall socket.

∙ 11y agoConnect the included power supply to the sync cable and plug it into the wall. The iPad takes more power to charge than most USB ports can deliver, so it cannot be charged like an iPhone or iPod simply by connecting it to most computers.

∙ 11y agoThe iPad's internal battery could be torn out from it, and connected to external circuitry to make it a charger for some other type of battery, but it would be impractical, since you would still have to charge the iPad.

∙ 11y agoActually, you can charge an iPad with a computer, but you need to be patient. The main issue is the amount of power the iPad needs to charge. It is designed to be charged with the 10-watt apple charger. A PC USB port usually puts out only 5 watts (or less). When you plug in the iPad and turn it on, you see the "Not Charging" message. The reason for this is that an active iPad battery draws more power than the computer USB connection can deliver quickly.
If you turn off the iPad and leave it plugged into the computer USB port, you will be able to send a small trickle charge to the iPad battery. As soon as you turn on the iPad, you will see the disappointing "Not Charging" message. However, if you have left it plugged on long enough (time varies due to many circumstances), you will notice a change in the charged percent when you turn it back on.
Try leaving your iPad turned off and connected to your computer USB port overnight to see if it works for you. If the particular port is not giving you the results you need, try another port, since there may be a difference in the amount of power delivered by a port that is closer to the main USB connection in the computer (usually closer to the back on a notebook computer).
