You first need to make sure you have clean, WARM hands. Its also a good idea to have short nails, or wear an examination glove. Using a small amount of lubricant, gently slide 1-2 fingers into your vagina. The tips of you fingers will feel a different texture towards the upper back. This is the cervix. If it is hanging down, and it feels hard (hate to be crude, but it feels like an erect penis), you are probably not pregnant. However, if is hard to reach, and soft (well, softer than above), and you are due for your period, you should probably take a HPT.
