Put a oven proof bowl inside the oven with lemon and water. The lemon should be cut and squeezed into the water. There should be enough water in the bowl to cover the lemon skins. Turn on the oven to about 160 to 200 degrees Celcius. Wait until the water boils and begins to make steam then turn it down so the water begins to simmer slowly. Leave for about 20 to 30 minutes until there is little water in the bowl. Turn off the oven. Open the oven and begin wiping with a damp cloth while still hot to warm. Grease should soften and begin to come off. For thick baked grease Sodium Bi Carbone made into a paste (by adding a little water to the Bi Carb) and rub on to the thick area and then apply lemon juice or vinigar. Heat the oven as describe above in the first paragraph. This procedure can be used to clean burnt substances from the base of saucepans or anything that has carbonised. This does work. I regularly use this method to clean my oven and anything that carbonises. The best results for getting carbon off any item is to be able apply Sodium Bi Carb with vinigar on to the item and then boil the item in a covered saucepan with some water added (1 cup or so of water or enough to cover the item) for a least ten minutes. The burn carbonised substance will just peal off with a ligth rub. This works when needing to clean stove elements, oven sauces under the stove elements, roasting pans, barbeque plates and grills.

You can use hot, soapy water. There are also "cleaning packs" you can buy at your major grocery stores. These packs are fantastic. You just follow the directions (be sure to cut one end first) and put in your microwave oven and set it on the length of time by package directions.

Personally, I like good old hot soapy water. Be sure to do the roof of the microwave as well, and don't forget to move it and clean underneath. The glass rotating plate can just be washed along with your dishes.

Soap and water work great in a combo oven provided you don't do any heavy roasting or baking of food that might splatter like beef. THEN, you have a real mess on your hands and can't get the microwave-convection oven clean and spotless. I don't have a solution which is why I came to your site. I'll keep trying.

We don't have a micro/convection oven but my wife covers food (especially meats, pork, beef etc.) with parchment paper, purchased from grocery stores, which stops any splatter but doesn't effect the heating ability of the oven getting to the food being cooked. It works well in a microwave oven and doesn't cause problems like using aluminum foil which is a no-no.

I like to take a wash cloth and soak it in cold water, place it on the glass plate in the microwave. I pour a cap full of vanilla extract on the cloth and heat in the microwave for 2 minutes. I leave it in the microwave oven for 5 minutes to steam off the goo on the roof and then I open it and wipe the entire oven clean. The smell of the vanilla lasts for days and it's lovely.

A self-cleaning oven cleans its self about 2hrs.and cools about one hr.If the self cleaning oven works right, the handle on the door will not come undone til completely cooled. After cooled and you can open the oven door, their may be afew ashes left, just take some warm mild dish soap water wipe outand dry with paper towels,or use some clear vingar water on a paper-towel wipe out,and go back wipe dry with another clean paper towels. It really all depends on how long its been since the oven has been used and sitt before turning the self-cleaning on.

What is a convection microwave oven?

A convection and microwave combination oven is an appliance that combines the functions of both units in just one piece of equipment. This appliance will look much like a microwave oven, but will have conventional resistance (electric) heating elements in it as well as the little fan to provide the convection. This unit will function in either capacity, and about the only drawback is that the convection oven has a limited volume. Bon appétit!
