To clean, I was told to use Simple Green once a week if not more often since it is very gentle.

We have high lime and calcium in our water so this is not a true overall solution for my area. We did this faithfully for the first few months but noticed it peeling up. The company came out and said they fixed it. The problem persisted, more pieces came loose on the bottom of the tub, inside.

Our tub was originally white, it was resurfaced by the previous owners to match the toilet which was blue. Found out later that the sink had been resurfaced as well.

I wanted the bathroom back to white and we were switching out the toilet and sink with new white fixtures. We opted to resurface because it wouldn't tear up our tile or the plumbing in this 50 yr old house which is on a slab foundation.

I was told to dry the tub out after every use. When I complained to the company that resurfaced ours, they always blamed me for not following directions.

They gave me a long list of dont's, I complied.

Never leave anything, shampoo bottles, bar of soap, etc on it or the sides. The moisture will collect between the two and pull up the paint.

Also do not allow water to drip. All of these things will void the warranty.

No Comet or that type of chemical cleaners to be used, they will intefere with the bonding agents.

Constant water dripping on the surface will cause peeling, as will the bath mats with the suction cups.

If you have an animal to bathe, put a towel on the bottom of the tub to protect it from the nails scratching it.

I don't suggest resurfacing tubs because they only last a few months to a few years. Ours has been refinished twice and it is peeling again.

It looks like a new tub is the only answer for us. The standard bathtub is not what is in your house. The tubs made now are shallow. Be careful if or when you buy a new one measure yours and measure theirs.

If we remove our tub, it will tear up our wall tiles which are in perfect shape, are original and match all of it on the walls around the entire bathroom from 4 feet high to the floor.

What do you do? Before they apply this stuff, they have to sand it down to make it porous, so the epoxy will hold. I thought about scraping down our tub back to original white, but the damage was done from the first application of sanding, therefore that was not an option for us.

As a few more notes: Make certain to clean your cabinets right away after having this done, the white dust goes everywhere. The people that did ours sealed off the bathroom when they are preparing the surface for the application (sanding).

Remember that birds and other animals have to be protected from these fumes, either have a friend keep them or kennel them, they need to be out of the house for several days.

I would not suggest this for people with auto immune system or breathing problems. It's really harmful and yes they have their fan blowing out the window (if you have a bathroom window), but some of the fumes still come into your house.

Replace, don't resurface, that's my motto, why spend $350++ resurfacing just to have a tub that you cannot use or have to be so careful with.
My mom used her tub for everything, cleaning blinds, big blankets, the dog, etc and we never had any trouble like what I have experienced with this tub.

I want a normal Tub back in my home! ;)
