I had soot above my fire box on the rock, in the kitchen, and on just about everything plastic in the house. A Magic eraser took care of everything. The rock tore the heck out of the thing, and it took 2 to clean the fireplace rock. I had tried many things and had no luck. Great product. My rock is beige, and I got 99% of the beige back.

we are trying , and this was suggested. works ok but really worked on the soot on the logs.. Heat up your firepalce for about 20 minutes. With the fireplace still ON, spray windex on the logs or rock and watch the soot evaporate! It works!

Depending on the finish of the cabinets... start out with a mild soap and warm water. then increase the strength of the product until the soot/grease is removed, you can use this technique on the cabinet surface and the adjacent paint, wallpaper. If the cabinets are adjacent to a textured ceiling use an old tooth brush or soft scrub brush. "Magic Eraser" also works.

There are basically two ways for cleaning your marble fireplace, the harsh way and soft way. The harsh way includes using metal brushes and strong chemicals. Realistically these methods are often too dangerous or too expensive. Therefore you should rather consider water and soap to clean your fireplace.

I have used "scrubbing bubbles" bathroom cleaner to get rid of the soot on the surface of a fireplace. I would check a small, inconspicious place before doing the whole fireplace front.

Soot is caused either by unseasoned wood or a poor draft. You can clean the soot by scrapping it off but if you don't identify the problem it'll keep happening.

How do you clean fire damaged jewelry?

Depending on how bad the soot is on the ring you may need to try a couple of things. Many times a jeweler will need to polish the ring to get the shine back, but you can try these things first. A solution of Mr. Clean, Ammonia, and water can be used to soak the jewelry in. This is the same solution that jewelers use in their ultra sonic to clean jewelry. You can also try using a polishing cloth to remove some of the surface soot. These suggestions only work if the soot is light. If there are stones, a jeweler will need to remove the stones and polish the area under where the stones were set. Dullness under the stones will keep the diamonds from sparkling.

What do scrubbers clean in a power plant?

If i remember correctly they are in the chimneys. The soot is statically charged so it gets attracted to metal plates on the side of the chimney. So clean air leaves the plant and all the horrible soot is collected.
