How do you clean up a flash drive? |
[Edit] |
Cleaning a Flash Drive
Put the flash drive into your computer's USB port (assuming you have the proper driver loaded onto the computer). Go to "My Computer" and highlight the drive that shows up, right-click and select "Format." That'll wipe it completely clean.
Or, if you just want to remove the files, do the same thing but instead of formatting, just highlight the files and right-click to delete the file, pix, or whatever.
On an Apple Macintosh, go to /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility and select the drive in the list on the left. Then go to the tabs on the right and select erase. If you like, you can select security options such as Zero Out, 7 pass or 35 pass. (Note that the 35 pass will take 35x longer than the Zero Out option) When you are ready, click erase. When it is done you can enter a name for the drive and eject/disconnect it.
