How do you clean up a mattress and mattress cover after your pet urinates on it?In: Pets |
Answer
Pour a bottle of white vinegar in your washer & wash as usual. I was told this by a dry cleaner many years ago & it work very well. I've used the hand held attachment of my carpet cleaner to clean my mattress when this happeded & let it air dry. I followed with Fuller Brushes odor nuetralizer. It's the best spray made. I've tried all the pet store sprays & although they do a decent job this is by far the best stuff I have ever tried. I have 4 cats & 2 dogs & accidents to occasionally happen. I am never without this product.
Buy a product called Nature's Miracle and read the directions on the bottle. It contains enzymes that break up the urine or whatever. You leave the liquid on the fabric and let it dry that way. It is an excellent product and removes odor.
There is also another product available at PetSmart called Get Serious. Best stuff I have found to eliminate urine odor and remove stains on anything that is water capable. It even takes printer ink out of white shorts.
You can also use vinegar and water as well as baking soda. Obviously not together as they will react and foam but using the vinegar and water first to neutralize the urine. Then dry it as much as possible and then brush in the baking soda. Turn the mattress on it's side to dry. One of the best places to dry it is outside in the HOT sun but if that is not possible then turning it on it's side until it is dry will work.
