How do you collect a divorce settlement from a divorce that happened fourteen years ago?

Answer

The divorce decree itself is not enough to collect the debt.

The party seeking restitution could if they so choose file a lawsuit in the appropriate state court in the county where the ex-spouse resides.

Please be advised,it is entirely possible that the state's statute of limitations has expired and therefore the debt is no longer valid.

It would be advisable to obtain legal advice before taking any action.
