That depends upon what the consoling need is about...............
generally speaking, just LISTENING is a great way to console. People need to " get the stuff" out of them before getting to the point where they are able to accept the situation.
If you could put yourself in their place, that would help you to understand them better. And understanding is also a bonus in the consoling area.
