Best Answer

Multiply by 10.

MMBTU means a million BTU (where each M stands for 1000). Some people write MBTU for the same quantity (where M stands for 1,000,000).

A Therm is 100,000 BTUs, so 10 Therms = 1 MMBTU.

1.05506

For example:

10 MMBTUs x 1.05506 GJ/MMBTU = 10.5506 GJs

Notes:

------

1 BTU = 1,055.06 Joules

1 GJ = 1,000,000,000 Joules

1 mmbtu = 1,000,000 BTUs

Therefore:

1 BTU/1055.06 Joules x 1,000,000,000 Joules/GJ = 947,813.4 BTUs/GJ

947,813.4 BTUs/GJ x 1 MMBTUs/1,000,000 BTUs = 0.9478134 MMBtu/GJ

0.9478134 MMBtu/GJ is equivalent to ~1.05506 GJ/MMBTU

Also useful:

- To convert GJs to MMBTUs:

multiple the number of GJs x 0.9478134

(e.g.: 10.5506 GJ x 0.9478134 = 10 MMBTUs)

In order to convert Mmbtu to Kbtu one must first know what the letters stand for and how to use the conversion chart. They stand for the amounts of heat and energy at the end of a known time period. BTU stands for British Thermal Unit. Mmbtu is the traditional unit of energy equal to about 1.055.05585 joules. Kbtu is a Kilo British Thermal Unit and it means one thousand BTU. Multiplication is required to convert.

MMBTU is the same as MBTU, both of which are a million BTU.

M is the Roman Numeral for 1,000, so MM means 1000x1000 = 1 million (even though in Roman Numerals, MM means two thousand.)
