There is no sensible answer to this question. A metre cubed is a measure of volume, with dimensions [L3]. A kilowatt hour is a measure of power, with dimensions [ML2T-2]. Basic dimensional analysis teaches that you cannot convert between measures with different dimensions without additional information.

CommentThe kilowatt hour is a measure of energy, not power.

Our gas supplier converts our meter reading (measuring cubic metres of gas used - read ignoring any fraction of a cubic metre) to kilowatt hours (for payment - why not pay by volume like I do for my car fuel?) viz:

kWh = cubic_metres_of_gas_used x calorific_value x volume_correction ÷ 3.6

The calorific_value varies around 39.2;

The volume_correction = 1.0226400.

How the calorific_value is calculated I cannot say as it covers several days (between bills), so I guess it must be some kind of average.
