How do you cook for a dinner party of six people? |
Answer
Ask each of the guests what their favorite dish is. Cook something that is like their favorite dishes. Make sure you don't cook something that they don't like or are allergic to. And cook ahead of time in case something comes up.
Answer
It is wise to discover any food allergies in advance, as suggested. That aside, why not consider an alternative to the "fancy" dinner and cook something "down home" and rib-sticking good? Stew is an "all in one" dish. Hit it with some hot bread and butter and something to wash it down with, and you're a hero. Add a salad. Some pie. (Store bought is okay. Take it out of the container and wrap it in plastic. No, we won't tell on you....) Pasta dishes are easy crowd-pleasers and may work better in hot weather. Same thing as before. With a salad and simple dessert, you'll have folks wanting to move in. Certainly it broadens an individual to "step up" and put on a big show. But if you don't need the practice, why not "kill 'em with the good stuff" and put on a roundhouse demonstration of hot and hearty traditional American (or Americanized) fare? The petit four crowd isn't coming, is it? Best of luck.
Bon appétit!
