How do you count music beats?

I Am into music a lot and i count them in 1,2,3 go, 1,2,3 go, 1,2,3 go etc.

The timing of music depends upon the time signature - 4/4 time has 4 beats to a measure; 3/4 time has three beats and so on. In 4/4 time, a quarter note gets 1 beat; a whole note gets 4.
