Hair cutting is all about angles; angles in which you hold your hair while cutting. Unless you know the angle in which to hold your hair while cutting go to a salon. Now if you are determined to cut your own hair, go to a salon and watch how they do it and mimic it the next time you want it cut. First of all, you will need a good 3-way mirror. It is impossible to cut your hair in the back without this mirror. It will take you sometime to get use to using it, but once you have mastered the mirror, everything else is simple. Take it slow and have patience. It can be learned, and you will get better and better the more you do. If you have previously cut others you will have an idea and it won't be so hard. If not, practice on your children first. Good luck, it is fun and saves money as well.

I usually have my hair cut by a stylist at the salon in which I work. She couldn't make it to my appointment, so I ended up cutting my hair myself at home. It turned out pretty good. Not only do I color and highlight my own hair, but now I cut my own hair. So, to answer your question...... I got my hair cut at home, but I'm also an experienced hair stylist so I'm able to do these things. =D
