How do you decode an engine block casting number on a classic Ford Mustang?

FOR EXAMPLE, IF THE BLOCK NUMBER IS C2DE 6015 BA, THE FIRST DIGET 'C' MEANS THE YEAR, SIXTY'S C= 60'S D=70'S E=80'S SECOND DIGET IS THE YEAR, IN THIS CASE IT WOULD BE A 1962! THE 6015 IS A NUMBER THAT Ford USES! THE OTHER NUMBERS I DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY MEAN, SO SOMEONE HELP ME OUT!!! THANKS; REGGIE B. The first digit is the decade, the second is the year, the third is the car line, the fourth tells you what system the part is for. E is an engine part, B is a body part, F is a fuel system part, etc.. with all factory replacement parts having a Z as the fourth digit. 6015 is what's called the group number. This means that it is some kind of an engine block. 9510 is a carb, 9425 is an intake manifold, etc... and the last one or two digits tell you how many times the original design of the part has been changed. The number given as an example is not an actual casting number that Ford used, since they didn't start using double digit design level change designations until the 70s, but, if it were a real number, it would be telling you that this is the first change of the second design of an engine block that was originally designed for use in a 1962 Falcon.
