• Keep it simple and choose light colors. Cool colors like blue and green (still light, of course), tend to make the place seem broader and more relaxing, too.

• No matter whether you're in a big or a small place, SCALE is a concern. That means that you need to figure out the appropriate SIZE of things you are going to put in your apartment: you don't want furniture that's too big OR too small. I think because your apartment is small, you might be tempted to buy things for it that might be too small -- so be very careful to choose things that are just the right size. Take a photo of your apartment with you when you go to choose things, or take measurements of the room(s) you are decorating so you can accurately choose the right size furnishings, etc. for your apartment.
