Yes it has been done before. For an example of one, you can go toScience buddies and look up science fair projects and under mathematics go to the experiment called "Devising an Algorithm for Solving Rubik's Cube".
they are sequences of turns on a Rubik's cube. EXAMPLE: "L U Ri D Li" are, turn the left side clockwise, turn the upper side clockwise, turn the right side counterclockwise, turn the "down" side clockwise, turn the left side counterclockwise, and so on.
The basic steps:
1.) Get the green edge pieces in place
2.) Get the green corners in place
3.) Get the second layer solved
4.) Get the blue edges flipped the right way
5.) Put the blue edges in the right places
6.) Get the blue corners in the right places
7.) Rotate the blue corners the right way
The notation for the algorithms:
(This depends on what side is facing you.)
F-------turn the front side clockwise
L-------turn the left side clockwise
R-------turn the right side clockwise
U-------turn the "up" side clockwise
D-------turn the "Down" side clockwise
Fi------turn the front side counterclockwise
Li------turn the left side counterclockwise
Ui------turn the "Up" side counterclockwise
Di------turn the "Down" side counterclockwise
Step #1
1.) look on the blue side for an edge piece that has green on it
2.) rotate the blue side until that piece is directly under where it needs to be on the green side
3.) flip it up so it is in the right position
4.) repeat until the green "cross" is solved
NOTE: If a piece is flipped the wrong way, hold the cube so the green side is on the top and the flipped edge piece is in the front side. Do the algorithm: Fi,U,Li,Ui To flip it the right way.
Step#2
1.) same as before, look on the blue side for a green corner piece
2.) rotate the blue side so the green corner is directly under where it needs to be
3.) Hold the cube so the green side is the up side and the corner is in the bottom-right corner of the front side.
4.) Do the algorithm: Ri,Di,R,D either once, three times, or five times to get it in the right place
Step#3
1.) flip the cube so the green side is down
2.) look on the blue side for an edge piece that doesn't have blue in it
3.) rotate the blue side so the color on the edge piece that isn't on the blue side lines up with It's other color; making a straight line
4.) if the piece needs to go to the left, do this algorithm: Ui,Li,U,L,U,F,Ui,Fi and if it needs to go to the right, do: U,R,Ui,Ri,Ui,Fi,U,F do that until the middle layer is solved
Step#4
1.) Next, on the blue side (not including the corners) you should either have a: DOT, "L", LINE, or "CROSS" you need to get the cross
2.) Hold the cube so, if you have the L, have it face the upper right, if you have the line, make it vertical, and the dot hold it in any was so it is at the up face.
3.) Continue doing the algorithm: L,F,U,Fi,Ui,Liuntil you get The cross
Step#5
1.) Rotate the blue side until two of the blue edges are in the correct places and hold the cube so they are in the top-right of the up side.
2.) Do the algorithm: R,U,Ri,U,R,U,U,Ri,U to solve it
NOTE: The two that might line up are opposite eachother, so do the algorithm when they are vertical on the up side
Step#6
1.) Look at the rest of the corners that are unsolved and if any are in the right position, but flipped the wrong or right way, hold them in the bottom-right of the up face.
2.) Do the algorithm: U,R,Ui,Li,U,Ri,Ui,L either once or twice
NOTE: If there aren't any in the right position, but flipped the wrong or right way, do this from any side
Step#7
1.) With all the cube solved except for the either two, three, or four corners in the right places, but flipped the wrong way, hold the cube so one unsolved corner is in the bottom-right hand corner of the up face(wich is blue)
2.) Do the algorithm: Ri,Di,R,D until that corner is solved.
3.) Rotate JUST the upside so another unsolved corner is in the same position as the previous corner and do Ri,Di,R,Duntil that one is solved and (if needed) rotate the up face so another unsolved corner is in the same position as the previous corner.
4.) repeat steps 2-3 until all the corners are rotated the right way.
5.) You can figure it out from here (-:
go to you tube and watch pogobat's tutorial
-----
There are many sites, such as rubiks.com,
wikipedia,
speedsolving.com,
and many people have videos on YouTube.
Dan Brown has been voted the best tutorial,
I personally prefer the one from Badmephisto (really explained well, even the screwdriver method, i'd have to say), although if you want to extend to speedsolving, his videos for that are pretty good as well, but his algs are bad (slow, hard to memorize, many regrips).
Thrawst is pretty good as well, and he also was the first to post a tutorial.
If you're watching a tutorial, you have to get past the "screwdriver method" (Taking the cube apart) on most videos before you get to the proper technique for the cube.
Look up on youtube for the Dan Brown 4x4 Rubik's cube solution. (there 3 parts)

No, it doesn't but it can increase your understanding about various aspects of geometry. The people who are able to solve a rubik's cube don't really have higher IQ. They are able to do this because they have learn't the trick to solve it. They have hardcoded the algorithms in their brains. Anyone can solve a rubik's cube just by memorizing the algorithms and learning the technique to solve it.
The Rubik's cube is normally easier because you can us algorithms as techniques to solve it where as the rubik's 360 is based on luck and steadiness of the hand.
the rubiks cube the rubiks cube
no way he is to stupid and self centered to solve a rubiks cube. im serious i know people. he might be the smarteset kid on earth but there is no way he could solve a rubiks cube!
Yes he does. He can solve a Rubiks cube in less than a minute.
No. Unless you buy the electronic rubiks cube called rubiks revolution. It has different games.
I think you mean rubix cube. For a rubix cube, you just use a variation of algorithms.
go to youtube, and there should be videos up by a person with the username 'pogobat' that has videos on how to solve the 3x3x3 and the 4x4x4 rubiks cube.
You learn algorithms and practice. When you have practiced for a while then you solve the cube faster maybe in 30 secounds or so.
a mirror cube, the mirror cubes work the same as a rubik's cube, but takes more knowledge of the cube since you can't orient by just looking at the colours
Plastic.
a rubix cube!! :)
