You simply go into Settings > Notifications > Messages > and scroll down and switch off "Show Preview". You now will have only the contact name appear when you receive a text or iMessage.

∙ 12y agoYou can do it. It says Text Message, instead of the message preview. Go to: Settings>Messages> Slide show preview to OFF at the top of the screen.
