Many vehicles have a 'child safety lock' in the back seat that prevents young children from opening the doors. Check your owner's manual. Some have a physical latch to turn to disengage. Others have a menu setting in the electronics that can be programmed. If they open from outside and not inside the child locks are probably on. open the door and look around the lock .
There are little levers on the ends of the back doors , about 3 inches below the latching mechanism that allow you to engage or disengage the child lock feature - assuming nothing is broken
When you open the doors there is a lever on the door itself that you can switch up or down depending on if you want to engage or disengage the child safety locks. There should be a sticker indicating which way to lock-unlock.
The child safety lock is engaged. Disengage it on the door next to the latch.
Usually with a key from the outside or thumbolt from the inside.
