Fasting is simply not eating. To fast, you just don't eat. Various cultures attach extra conditions on when and where you may or may not eat while fasting.
You have to make sure you don't eat from sunrise - sunset. To make it easier wake up 1 hour befor sunrise and eat as much as you can. (I recomend meat because meat stays in your stomach longer).
