  • The more you add good answers - and the more you make good improvements to existing answers - the more other WikiAnswers contributors will want to recommend you.
  • Answer questions correctly with helpful information. If someone likes your answer, they click "recommend" next to the name of the person who answered it and they get a point.
  • Anyone can add to your trust points score by clicking "recommend" on your profile or on a question you've answered or edited.
  • Other users give them to you if they like your answer to a question. We (the ones who answer questions), get trust points from people who click a little link at the bottom of an answer. At the bottom the author's name is written. There you can choose to give a trust point by selecting "recommend contributor."
  • People award them to you when they see one of your answers that they feel is worthwhile.
  • You get trust points from asking questions, answering questions or editing answers.
  • If people like your answers, then they will give you a trust point. So if you want trust points, you need to give good answers that you think people will really like and which will make them say: "Hey, that is a really good answer", and then they might give you a trust point. Don't ask for them though, because that makes you look desperate, and then people won't be inclined to give them to you.
  • Trust points are earned from those who care to recommend the contributor. But a contributor who might recommend someone might wish to see the answer to "What is a 'trust point' on WikiAnswers?" A link to that question is posted below. It has "unexpected" information in it.
  • By giving really good answers. If someone thought your answer was helpful or they really liked it, they might give you a trust point. Or, you can always give yourself the 1 point that is a bonus one.
  • The best way to get trust points is simply to answer questions as well as you can and as often as you can. This way people can see how you answer the questions and they can research to see if your answers are correct. Then they can "trust" you and give you trust points!
  • You receive trust points by giving good answers to questions. When another user reads your answer and likes it, they can click the "recommend contributor" button. By doing this it gives the answerer a trust point. You can only do this once for each user.
  • Trust points are not for prizes; they are simply used as a scale of how many users like your answers. When you contribute to WikiAnswers and someone finds this contribution helpful they may choose to give you a trust point. These points are a way to distinguish WikiAnswers members who give great answers and who help out around the site. Unfortunately though, you are unable to see who gave you the trust point, but sometimes the user will let you know by messaging you on your message board.
  • You get trust points by answering questions with good and constructive answers. If the person who asked the question - or anybody who reads the question - feels that your answer was good and useful to them, they can click the "recommend contributor" button just below the answer.
  • The best way to get trust points is by answering a lot of questions. This brings "wiki-publicity" to your user-name, which gets you a higher chance of being recommended (they must be good answers, otherwise recommendations won't happen!).
  • You have to give a solid answer to a question, and you have to be truthful.
  • People who appreciate your thoughtful or knowledgeable answer to a question will give them to you.
  • You earn them from other users based on your answers when they recommend you.
  • The way to get trust points is to answer questions and then - if people like your answer - they can vote for you. Directly asking for them is a bit unfair to the rest of us who don't. The more good answers you give, the more chance of getting the trust points.
  • Trust points are given out to users who, in another contributor's opinion, have contributed good answers. The people who get trust points have punctuated, legible, detailed, and grammatically sound answers.

Remember, the amount of trust points does not mean contributor A is better than contributor B; it just means contributor A may have been a member for longer, or more people think their answers are legible.

  • If someone finds your answer really helpful, or they liked your answer, they will give you a trust point. So the more you answer, the better your chances of getting trust points.
  • My advice is to try to have your answer well structured, informative, truthful, and not biased to your own beliefs or cultures. Avoid insulting or degrading opposite opinions or beliefs. Then, the more you answer questions, the more chances you have to get trust points. Go on and be patient.
  • Give some accurate and good answers that are useful, and you will gain contributor trust before you know it. That is how it worked for me at least.
  • Ask yourself if you are here to "get trust points" or if you are here to try and provide good answers and help people. If you are here to give good answers and help people, do so to the best of your ability - slowly but surely, the trust points will come. Accent on the slowly. If you get 1 trust point for every 50 answers you make, you are doing very well, indeed. Most people simply don't bother showing their gratitude for a good answer - that's why you treasure the ones who do.
  • Each time a user recommends you, you earn 1 more trust point.
  • Give some accurate and good answers that are useful, and you will gain contributor trust before you know it. That is how it worked for me, at least.

Trust points - are awarded by people who think your answer is accurate, informative or otherwise helpful. HOWEVER - they are NOT (a) a guarantee of the validity of an answer and (b) a 'status symbol'

When you find a contributor that you thought did an excellent job answering a question, you can give them a trust point!

Below the answer is a line that says who are the first and last contributors of a question. You can click "Recommend" next to the next to the name of the last editor on answered question pages; that action will give the usera trust point.

There is also a Recommend option on a user's profile page.

You can earn points by contributing to the site in a positive way. The better your contributions and the more of them....the more trust points. They can be awarded by recommending users on their bio page or at the bottom of answers they have written.

Why don't Answerscom stats transfer between languages for example if I have 5 trust points in the English Answerscom why don't I have 5 trust points on the Spanish Answerscom?

Most people answer questions in only one language, so the situation does not come up very often, and the system is not designed to apply trust points to more than one account. Honestly, we do not answer questions for the trust points, we answer questions because we like to help people (and to advertise our erudition). This does not really require trust points. Those are just an embellishment.
