Answer: Enable Run: First Method: Using Windows Explorer, navigate to c:\windows\system32 and search for this file gpedit.msc and open it. Once in the Group Policy Editor goto User Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Start Menu and Taskbar then Double click on Remove Run menu from Start Menu. And set it to Not Configured. Second Method: Click Start -> Run. Type in regedit and hit Enter. Go to: HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer and HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer Make Sure that the entry in both paths for NoRun and DisallowRun is set to 0.

You can't, but there is somewhat of a workaround. If your RUN has been removed from the START menu through a registry edit, you need to have administrator rights to edit it. Furthermore, if your RUN has been removed due to a domain policy, you will need domain admin rights, and access to active directory to enable it again. But dont sigh yet. . .

Most policies do NOT remove the "SEARCH." If you search for "CMD.*" without the quotes, you will be able to launch a commandline prompt. This is not the RUN line, but it will work the same way. As long as the command you are typing is in the path, you'll be able to run it. Type "EXIT" or close the window when you are done.
