How do you find a short in the headlight wiring that would cause your engine to die when you turn on your headlights?

[Edit]

Answer

I believe if you have a short you should blow a fuse. But if your engine is dying you probably have a bad alternator and/or battery.

Answer

make sure body ground to motor is still connected.
