This is not so much a improvement but a extention of above. Most units have web sites and list Silver Star recipients. As I was with the 173rd AIB and the 11th ACR, both have list of MOH,DSC and Silver Stars awarded.Names, rank and dates are provided. Bronze Stars and Purple Hearts were so numerous, it was decided not efficient to list.
No such list exists.
There, are, however, some re-created lists by unit. Many units have organized reunion associations, where Medal of Honor, Distinguished Service Cross, and Silver Star honorees are listed. Check the division organization the individual served with.
B.G. Burkett in his book, Stolen Valor, lists all Vietnam Medal of Honor, Distinguished Service Cross, Navy Cross, Air Force Cross, and returned Prisoners of War.
See if "THE AMERICAN WAR LIBRARY" can be of any help.
Fort starters try: Statistics about the Vietnam War.
I work with a fellow police officer who cliams to have won both the bronz star and silver star during Vietnam yet was never wonded. He further claims to served 3 tours of duty in country with the U.S. Army. I find it hard to belive an individual won both awards. Does anyone know of this happening?

You can't, no one wins anything in war! You are AWARDED a medal or decoration. All you civilians out there; let that sink in. That is a tremendous difference and that difference means a lot to us. Basically, it has to do with the memory of those "who are forever young", for in this "game" not everyone is alive when it's over. Other than that, Google it.
One can find information on the Silver Star Mountain Trail by checking with the tourism department of the Chamber of Commerce for the state of Washington which is where this trail is located.
