MS isn't stamped on coins. It's part of a grade that may be assigned to a coin when it's evaluated by an appraiser. MS stands for "Mint State" and means that a coin is in the same condition as when it was first struck. Only uncirculated coins can be graded MS.
You may be thinking of the mint MARK, which is a tiny letter that identifies where a coin was struck. However, only 1908 and 1909 Indian head cents have possible mint marks - a small S under the bow of the wreath. Most 1908 and 1909 cents, and all earlier ones were struck at Philadelphia which didn't use a mint mark back then.
