Today there are numerous styles of wood stoves, one of which is sure to look stunningly beautiful in your house. When searching for the perfect wood stove for your house, it is important to keep your decorating philosophy in mind. First, decide whether you would like a formal, elegant wood stove, or a country casual one. This is a very important consideration to make -- if you are planning to put the wood stove in an informal room of your house, or if your entire house is very cottage-y, you will want a wood stove that is cheery and casual. However, if the wood stove is to go in a formal area of your home, or you live in a very sleek modern apartment, a potbelly wood stove, or a brightly colored wood stove will look out of place. For example, if your house is decorated in a Pennsylvania country style, you may not be able to find a stove that is specifically Pennsylvania country, but you will be able to find numerous farmhouse style wood stoves that will look lovely in your house. Put wood inside instead of coal one day and see what happens. Size does not matter. If it is a large stove use large wood, if it is a small stove then use small wood.
If the wood stove is in the basement it will heat up the rest of the house but if it is not in the basement you have to find some way to vent it down there.
