How do you find out whose buddy lists you are on for AOL Instant Messenger? In: AOL Mail and IM |
[Edit] |
Answer
Okay trying to answer objectively, but to the best of my knowledge, it isn't actually possible to do this. If someone wants to put you on their buddy list you have no option. If you don't want them to know that you are online or otherwise you can use the AOL privacy settings and add them to your block list or change your screen name. The only method i can possibly think of is to ask the person out right if you are on their buddy list, which doesn't help if you want to know who has you on thier list yet don't know who they are. I have consulted with AOL live help and they say the same, you just simply don't know. So, if you are worried about your privacy online I'd advise looking at AOL's privacy controls, it allows you to have only people on your buddy list able to see your online status and contact you aswell as other options.
Answer
the only way that i know of is to either to go to your privacy settings and then click the button that only allows people from your buddylist to contact you. If you see that a person is on and you do not wish to talk to them you can also click the eye button next to your name. this enables you to continue chatting while everyone see that you are off-line. Unfortunently if someone sends you an instant message while you are "off-line" it will go right through and it will be possible for the person to talk to you. Nevertheless, if you block someone it will seem that you are off 24/7 to that person and that person willnot be able to talk to you untill you unblock them.
Answer
There must be *some* way to check, because on AIM wars they add up the number of people who have you on their buddy list.
Answer
Of course AOL knows, and therefore they can make the aimfight program, but I doubt the information is easily available to users. The simplest way to find out whose buddy list you are on is just to see who instant messages you before you instant message them.
