go to bannan island and talk to the wayfarer(old man) and he'll talk about some mermaid then kill all the monsters on the island and go on to the bridge by the wayfarer's house. there'll be a mermaid that pops up but shes really a girl dressed up as a mermaid, jolene the pirate's sister. talk to the "mermaid" then go to the wayfarer again and tell him about the mermaid and when the mermaid is in his pool, he'll give u the fishing rod.

In the begining of the game Colin said that he was going to make you a fishing rod and then there is a craddle that Colins mom is missing you go ove to this little island on he map and call you eagle by blowing in the grass and throw the eagle at the monkey because the monkey has the craddle after that take the craddle back to Colins mom and you will walk back with her and then she will give you the fishing rod and then find a little dock and click the - sighn on the wii remote and click on the rod and click B when you are done doing thatpress B and use the wii remote and fling it and wait to WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT when you got this it showed you insructions on how to use this in the game so sorry ALWAYS READ THE INSTRUCTIONS

When your sailing if you see the shadow of a fish on your sea chart go over to it (you don't have to be on top of it - just near it) then pen your menu and the fish button should've lighten up, if it hasn't try going closer to the fish shadow. Then press "fish" when you start you have to draw circles on your ds's screen until it says "pull!" then you pull back on your stylus by taping the top of the screen than holding your stylus down and dragging it to the bottom, continue this until you have caught a fish. If the fish gets away the fish shadow would have disappeared and you'll have to wait till next time you see a fish shadow to fish again.
