How do you fix a hard drive that's not responding on a laptop and keeps crashing with a blue screen on startup?

I had the same problem and I mine the thing was that hard drive that was Having OS installed went not responding.
FIRST REINSTALL THE WINDOWS PROPERLY then follow the steps below:
-Check that drivers are installed properly by going to "DEVICE MANAGER" and select Scan for hardware changes in hard disk options.
-Then at the startup, Press F2 key to open Bios(In my system its F2 check whats yours),Change the order of boot of drives (Follow Steps below to check the order)
1. At the first place keep the Drive which have windows(OS) installed.
2.Then place the other drives after that.
3. Then place you drive with problem.
4. Then place your CD ROM Drive.
5.Save the changes made.
This would sort out the problem
If not then you need to change the SATA cables that connect hard drive or change the hard drive.
