∙ 15y agoIt is probably not a good idea for someone other than a technician to attempt any repairs on a microwave oven. The unit has a number of high voltage components inside it, and there a handful of safety features that could be compromised by someone unfamiliar with electronics and appliance repair. You may get it to run but find that it catches fire. And how would you know if it leaks microwave radiation when you're done fooling around with it? Deciding how to fix a microwave depends on what is wrong. What kind of symptoms can be observed? Does the display light up when it is plugged in? Does the clock function? Does the unit run but not heat anything? Does the unit count down, but the fan fails to energize and the unit won't heat? There are other possibilities. There could be any one of a number of things wrong with a microwave oven if it is not operating properly, but the units pose a hazard to an untrained handyman who attempts repairs. Let's leave this one to the technical specialists, shall we? Yes, repair time can be expensive, but new units are relatively inexpensive.
