Hand unscrew the base of the handles which is the part which rest on the tub. Once this is undone, the handle part comes off of the white plastic nut and if you look inside the handle you will see a Phillips head screw. Tighten the screw with a screwdriver and then place back on the on oversized white plastic nut. Then carefully reseat the base of the faucet back on the plastic threads and hand tighten. Once tight, the wobbly handle should be like new
Above helped me fix a loose hot water handle on my Moen 4570 lavatory faucet. I used a Sears Craftsman Strap Wrench on the base which was too tight to turn by hand. The strap wrench avoids marring the chrome surface. In my case the Phillips head screw had fallen completely out of the upper portion of handle & I had to retrieve it from the tubular part below which is right in plain sight. When reseating the base as described above, you can make the handle point in the desired direction by carefully selecting which grooves to match the upper & lower portions to. If you are slightly off on the 1st try, just try again in a new position. I want to thank the Original Poster for this tip which was very helpful. I just wanted to add my 2¢ in case it might be of some additional help. Cheers!
There are kits available which contain the little pieces parts that go inside
the valve.
Check with your local hardware store. You'll want to know the brand name
of your faucet.
Repairing the faucet will mean shutting off the water to the it at the main valve.
The correct hex/allen wrench to remove a Moen faucet handle (for the Renzo model faucet) is 7/64".
Moen part #1920 and a brand new Moen single handle faucet
The handle must be removed to allow access to the retainer clip, then the cartridge pulls out. You may need a cartridge puller if the faucet is old.
Turn the water off to the faucet. Remove the handle. The top of the faucet should unscrew to get to the ball valve. Replace the valve and gaskets then reassemble the faucet.
1/8 wrench for that one.
The inside part of a Moen faucet / shower body
I believe that is 5/32.
Shut the water supplies off, take the handle off, unscrew the cartridge. The washer will be on the bottom of the stem of the cartridge
The best place to purchase a moen faucet online is at the dealers website. It is www.moen.com. I'm sure you will find the perfect faucet for your bathroom.
What's the problem ?
No
we have had this faucet for a long time and I have done several repairs on it, because it has a lifetime warranty Moen sends us the parts and it is simple to repair. To remove the handle, carefully remove a small plug on the front of the handle, some have the Moen name on them and the one that we currently have is the same color as the faucet. You can remove them easily with a small knife or screwdriver, just make sure not to scratch the finish on the faucet. Under that plug you will find an screw that uses an Allen wrench (3/32), loosen it and the handle will come right off by lifting up on it. To get to the rest of the faucet just lift the dome and the cartridge is ready to remove with a wrench. Don't remove the cartridge without turning off your water source!
