How do you fix a sticking accelerator in a ford truck?

Answer:

Check For binding of the controls in the throttle linkage at the carburetor or throttle body (fuel injection vehicle). It is critical to have free play of the linkage in those areas. If binding is in fact noticed there,, spray some WD-40 (or equivalent) lubricant on all exposed springs and levers and recheck. Also, make sure the butterfly valve in the carb or throttle body itself IS NOT STICKING causing a binding problem resulting in stuck accelerator. If it does not move freely or sticks, a good CLEANING is necessary. This valve should be kept CLEAN at all times anyway.
