There's a couple of things that generally will cause that to happen. Since you didn't specify what type of device it is such as a computer display or a LCD television, I can't really be too specific.

The first cause may be that the connections to the lower half of the LCD panel have become loose. Since most connections to the panel itself are put into place by an adhesive, chances are that the connector has `lifted' from the circuit board and all it needs, it to be pasted back down.

The second cause may be that one of the display driver chips have gone bad. This happens more often in LCD TV's, and since this isn't really a consumer repairable item, the whole driver card is generally replaced.

What if your LCD ViewSonic Monitor is close to 25 inches and has a resolution of 1600x1024 It blacks out for hours with the light flashing It then turns back on after hours of struggle to then black o?

If your LCD ViewSonic Monitor, whether close to 25 inches with a resolution of 1600x1024 or a larger size and resolution, blacks out for hours with the light flashing, there is a problem with your LCD backlight, or the electric panel in the TV. Sometimes this also causes the TV to turn back on after a few hours, struggle to remain on, and then go black again. Professional TV repair is required.

How long can you expect an LCD monitor to last?

Most current LCD panels have life spans of 40,000 to 60,000 hours so if your average usage is six hours a day you are looking at 20 years for your LCD.

An LCD bezel can become faulty if it is manufactured improperly or it becomes physically damaged. This will cause it to slip out of position and not protect the screen properly.
