How do you fix the 8000401a error code on the new Windows Live Messenger?

(I don't want credit though I am just improving the answer for people in easy terminology...)

click Start
click Run
type regedit
click ok
click plus sign next to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
scroll down to AppID
click plus sign next to AppID
scroll down to {380689D0-AFAA-47E6-B80E-A33436FE314B}
right click {380689D0-AFAA-47E6-B80E-A33436FE314B}
click delete

This also will slove the Windows Live Mail (WLM) error
"Sorry, something unexpected happened and Windows Live Mail must close. Your most recent changes may not be saved."
due to failure of loading contacts when opening WLM
