How do you fix your trunk latch when it doesn't latch?

The best thing is go to a BMW company and tell them the problem

you get something very stiff and keep trying to lever it open, if this doesnt work smash the uncscrew the screws and crawl in, if this doesnt work then just brake your trunk

Try lubricating the latch with WD-40, and then working the mechanisim back and forth for a bit. Make sure that the latch is moving all the way to the 'open' position, as failure to open properly can...

I would say that if you are having this problem most likely the latch has been slightly bent in or out, or the vehicle has been wrecked in the past. Also, the alignment of the trunk could be off....

probably the lock and plate at the bottom are not lined up on mine i had to strighten the bottom out and take big pliers and bend the top out so it matches with the bottom
