How do you get a 14-month-old baby to go to sleep at night without her putting up a massive crying fit while babysitting?

Answer

It's best to talk to the parents and find out what they do in this case. Usually baby's like to be picked up (not always a good idea) and cuddle or rocked. To save yourself some hassels and worrying pick the baby up and walk around. Put on some soft music or hum a song to the baby. If the baby is still crying perhaps they have gas so there are two ways to do this:

Put a towel over your shoulder and hold the baby over your shoulder lightly patting the baby's back, or, put the baby tummy side down across your lap and pad or message their back. Hopefully you'll get a little belch out of them.

If this doesn't resolve the problem, then speak to the mother. It could be the formula the baby is on which doesn't agree with the baby. If it's pumped breast milk, mom could well have eaten something that is giving the baby cholic.

Good luck Marcy

you can try some thing warm like warm milk, also theres some babys that are just cry for hours at a time, then theres those that never cry like i did, i only cried when i was hungry. that was the best releaf for my parents after thay had my sister who always cried about everything.what im saying is that some baby's cry alot and some dont. you just got stuck with one that cries alot.

Now, food is not always the answer jogging with the baby in your arms is something that really works well!!!
