It depends on how deep the scratch is, a small scratch may be easily covered over by a protective film or layer, a larger scratch though may require a filling. A really large crack will need the whole screen to be replaced
You can get the scratch off using toothpaste or car wax and when you put it on you wait at least 5 minutes and lightly dab the marks on your phone to remove it.
You can buy special polishing compounds and simply rub them off, if they aren't too deep..
