Depends on what the lightbulb is for... For standard household, there are 3 size bases that are seen in most households. The most popular is the "Medium Base", or "Standard Base", which holds most any standard household bulb. There are smaller bases called candelabra base which many new light fixtures are using and it can be easily found at most stores that carry lightbulbs. The 3rd main type is a mogul base, this is generally used in heavy duty or commercial applications and can include many different type of light bulbs from incandesant, Metal Halide, High Pressure Sodium among others. These are the main type of bulbs seen in many typical streetlights seen along residential roads or country farm houses. If the reference is for anything else including a cell phone, most other items (outside of automotive) are usuall propietary and you need to contact the vendor themselves to see if the bulb is replacable.
