A plantar wart is a wart on the bottom of the foot, a particularly inconvenient place for a wart, since it will constantly be irritated when weight is placed on the foot by standing or walking. Other than that, they occur for the same reasons as any other kind of wart; certain fungi and viruses can cause warts to develop.
