MIT is very interested in diversity and humanity and accepts students from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds. Minimum requirements for admission are a small step towards acceptance but include standardized tests and leadership experience. Some majors even require a portfolio (Media arts for example) To gain admission to MIT , In 2008 scores adveraged between 670 and 770 for Critical Reading and 730-800 for Math. One is required to submit either SAT or ACT scores but there is no minimum score for entrance. Further, either TOEFL exams or IELTS are required (for students that speak English as a second language)
