The most common causes of ingrowing toenails are badly cut toenails and shoes which have been too tight.

Also, if you have a history of ingrown toenails in your family then you are at an increased risk of getting an ingrown toenail yourself.

its not something that goes away it'll keep growing back. its VERY painful.

to take it out you just simply take the toe that's ingrown & take toe nail clippers & clip at an angle & pull it out . that will get rid of the ingrown toe nail for a while. or until it grows back.

your you can just go see a doctor.

Do not try and do this yourself, see a doctor, if you do it yourself you may cause an infection or cut the wrong way and do yourself more damage.

Why do ingrown toenails hurt?

Ingrown toenails hurt because what is happening is that your toenail is penetrating the skin. when anything penetrates your skin it will hurt. The toenail will press on nerves in the toe. another reason that it hurts is that it is infected. The way to treat an infected ingrown toenail is to remove the toenail from the opening in the skin with nail trimmers then soak the toe in warm salt water. Hope this helps!!

When is a toenail ingrown?

You can tell when a toenail is ingrown when it is red and hurts. The nail may not hurt until youtouch it, and this is still a sign your nail is ingrown. (regular toenails are not red and do not hurt! )If you are having this problem, do not touh it!That is the worst thing you can do. Instead, go to a doctor and hae him/her remove it properly with clean tools... It is better to catch an ingrown early with little pain then bring it to the doctors later when it becomes infected and much more painful. (and trust me they are very painful and gross... )I am twelve years old, and i have had more than 15 bad ingrown toenails in my life. Every time, i am scared and i don't tell anyne about it until i cannot stand the ppain anymore, then i go to the docotrs and everythingis solved. (:

You are scared to go to the doctor about and ingrown toenail what should you do?

1) You should go to the doctor. 2) In the meantime, you can soak your toe in Epsom salts. If it's bad enough you can put a TINY amount of cotton under the nail to try to pull it out of the bed. Wear shoes with a wider toe box to help relieve pressure. Be sure if you're exercising your nails are not too long. Pressure on the nail increases the likelihood of an ingrown toenail.

How do you remove an infected ingrown toenail at home with minimal pain?

There's no sesnible DIY suggestion for something like that. Go see a doctor. a easier and much less painful was is to go to a nail shop and ask them if there is anything they can do to you to get rid of it. if they say no, then yes, go to a doctor. but doctors stick needles in your toe and you wont be able to walk on it for days from the pain.

How do you cut an ingrown toenail?

take a needle go right into the the part of the toenail by the skin, lift the toenail up with the needle and take the nail clippers and cut it back. or in the front of your toenail right in the middle, cut a v shaped figure. the point of the v should be facing up the toenail. this way the toenail will grow toward each other and will prevent ingrown toenails to happen.

Does ingrown toenail surgery hurt?

First, the pediatrist has to use a shot to make your toe numb for when he cuts the ingrown toenail. So the shot doesn't hurt, he will spray some cold spray on it. the cold spray stings a little, but it helps not to feel the shot as much. Yes, that means you will feel the shot but it won't nesessarily hurt. After that, he will do his job in fixing your ingrown toenail.
