It depends on the age of your boyfriend. More young people aren't getting married until their late 20's or early to mid 30's now. If you are in your teens that is quite young to get married in modern society. People today generally want to experience more of life before they settle down.
Once you mention marriage to your boyfriend who is non committal then he may be afraid to come back into your life in case you bring up the subject again. Phone him and meet with him (face-to-face) and tell him you realize that marriage is out of the question at present and you'd still like to maintain your relationship. Don't mention marriage for awhile!
