Depends upon the stain, sometimes using carpet cleaner prior to washing will help with most stains, some stains are stubborn for instance blood should be removed immediately with hydrogen peroxide.
Try a cleaning product called Lestoil. It takes out oil based stains. I found it at dollar tree.

It depends are they new jeans, or are they ripped with stains? If they are new clean no holes or stains yes they are aprropriate

Oxy-Clean
To get stains out of white jeans you can use bleach. Seperate the peice of clothing from the rest and scrub the stained area with bleach. The stain will fade and you can wash out the color for good.
Soak in cold water.
Shout removes stains from jam, grass stains, coffee stains, ink stains, blood stains, motor oil stains, etc.
When I was an EMT we used hydrogen peroxide for blood stains on our white dress shirts.
